My art & ecology notebook documents a SLOW ART forest project. It's an ongoing diary in images, short films & conversations between myself, foresters, our local community & beyond, detailing an example of how we are turning our small monoculture spruce plantation in south Carlow into an ecologically & economically sustainable real FOREST.

You'll also find info on my previous work on community forests in Co Leitrim with Jan Alexander, (Crann founder and now President of Pro Silva Ireland) -'the Local Project'; & links to other eco-art works that inspire me & which may be inspire others.

I am also a member of Pro Silva Ireland, a branch of the EU wide Pro Silva organisation which promotes, permanent ecologically & economically sustainable FORESTRY. Learn more at www.prosilvaireland.org

Hello Cathy

My name is Georgina and I work at the RSA in the arts team here, Will suggested i get in touch with you about Culture Futures - and i can see from your blog below that you are involved.  Do you know if culture futures is stil around - are they still interested in behaviour change and the role of artists and creatives in supporting that cultural change?

The funding we had for 'arts and ecology' has come to an end, but i'm exploring what might be possible next in relation to this important area of work and behaviour change is something i'm interested in.

Any thoughts you had about culture futures or culture change would be really interesting.  Thanks

Georgina

Future of this network

Thanks for the opportunity to think about this network's future.

From my own perspective this network when it was active served many valuable purposes - in fact on a visit to London, I rather pressed Will Shaw who was writing and looking after the RSA Arts & Ecology blog to set this network up (I was managing a 5 county art online site site here in Ireland) so I knew the value of bringing together and highlighting creative practitioners works and presenting new ideas. Many of the…
